Pear trees are some of the most beautiful harvests filling orchards in the autumn months — their tiny white flowers paying homage to the spring and summer months, and foreshadowing the snow that will soon sit where its leaves once gathered ‘round. This harvest pairs so well with spices that warm you from the inside out: cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger. I'm smitten with these spices particularly in a crumble during evenings when the weather cools and night comes early, beloved mixing bowls and wooden spoons come out of hiding, and countertops get a fresh dusting of flour as we settle into the warmth of it all. It's a beautiful thing, the fall does: finds ways for you to feel the sun inside you as it retreats from shining outside our windows.
This botanical illustration is a part of the ever growing harvest collection — a handful of fine art prints I created with the intention of cultivating a space that encourages stillness, slow growth, self-compassion, and hope. Like each illustration in the collection, these pears serve as a reminder to have grace with yourself as you plant your own seeds, grow your roots, and reap your well-earned harvests. The most bountiful gardens grow from the small of seeds — so during sproutless seasons, keep patiently tending to the unseen undergrounds: a time to harvest will come precisely when it’s meant to.
